So what have I been doing with my two weeks off? Not a whole hell of a lot, until last Wednesday. I flew to Orlando Wednesday night to visit my friend Jeff aka Snag. I didn't get in to Florida until after 11pm (EST) so we just hung out for a while, then crashed.

Thursday Jeff had to work for a while, so I (of course) logged in for a bit, read for a while, went back to sleep, logged in for a bit more, etc. until he came home and we went to lunch. Then we went and picked up Brenden (who is pretty cool for a 3 year old) and just relaxed all afternoon until we went to see Jeff's friend's band play at Hard Rock Live (which is right in the middle of Universal Studios theme park, my only encounter with theme parks all week).

I slept late on Friday while Jeff dropped B off at school, and then we had Morningstar Farms fake Buffalo wings for breakfast/lunch and they were surprisingly good. After that we took a scenic boat tour, and though it was a little limited (because Florida is in the middle of a two-year drought, so lots of the canals are closed) I got to see lots of cool trees that we don't have here in Austin, as well as a white egret, a blue heron and an Anhinga or two. The anhinga apparently lacks oils that keep its feathers waterproof, so it spends lots of time with its wings spread out in the sun.

Later we went and had a drink and pizza at Dante's where Jeff's friend Chris works as a bartender (supposedly he looks just like the bartender at Fat Tuesday's here in Austin, but I've never been, so I can't say). At night we went to a party at Charles's house and left because Jeff wasn't feeling well and Chris and Karen didn't feel like being there much. We had more beer/food, followed by watching Detroit Rock City, with more beer.

Saturday we slept late, then went to the emergency room. Remember how I said that Jeff wasn't feeling so great? He'd been having weird headaches that we thought might be migraines, but the pain had moved to his arm and some in his chest, so off to the hospital. They did an EKG, etc. and gave him a shot of painkillers in the ass and eventually decided that it was probably tension. After about 5 hours at the hospital, Jeff convinced me it would be okay if I walked up to Dante's and had a beer instead of just stitting there, so I did. I think Chris was a bit surprised when I told him Jeff was in the hospital. Oops. Anyway, Jeff showed up a few minutes later, with prescriptions for painkillers and muscle relaxants. I took him to dinner in an attempt to make him feel better. Later that night we went to a little Irish pub and hung out with Chris, Karen, January and Josh (did I mention that Jeff's friends are all really really nice?) and even though we planned on sleeping early, we didn't get home 'til after 2.

Sunday morning Jeff went to pick Brenden up and I slept late, but eventually managed to get up and go to breakfast with them. Brenden and I finally started hitting it off about 20 minutes before I had to fly home. [Yes, I'm still kidphobic, but he's a cool kid] After kisses from Brenden and Jeff, I got on the plane (Karen rocks and saved the number 4 boarding pass for me, so I got a great seat) and was back in Austin a few minutes earlier than scheduled.

Erica picked me up and we went to get food at Veggie Heaven, then had a drink at Casino El Camino before heading home. Since then I've just been lazing around and snuggling with my kitties, though I did manage to get some laundry done and finish the last of the Fionavar Tapestry books. I think tonight I'll get started on the Star Wars books that Luke loaned me, since I need to get to bed early. School starts again in the morning, I thought I was ready, but I am so not. Wish me luck.

[as if this post wasn't long enough, I forgot to add that I finally have a guestbook, so go sign it.]

The semester is finally over. For those who care, my math test did suck, but it's over now, and hopefully didn't drag my grade down too much. Besides, I met a cute boy who came over to paint with me and spent time with him when I should have been studying. So if I get bad grades, it's all his fault.

I have two weeks off, during which I will attempt to find a part-time job, start going to the gym again, visit a friend in Florida, sign up for a class at UT's extension school (I've already signed up for 3 classes at ACC) and who knows what else. So anyway, if you thought I was crabby and mopey the last couple weeks, it's safe to talk to me now, at least for the next two weeks. And this semester, I'm really going to apply myself. I swear. Really. I can hear you laughing, stop that!

In car news, nothing horrible has happened recently (knock wood) though they forgot again to send me my registration renewal, so I have to drag my ass downtown and pay.

It's been a good week+ for food. Last Sunday I went over to Erica's and she made homemade pizza with two different kinds of crust, and as usual we all drank too much, and then there was a huge storm. Yesterday, I had Erica, Erick, Kerry, Chris, Leah, and Gabe over and made baked goat cheese with garlic croutons on salad with vinaigrette followed by pasta with pesto. Erica brought me three different kinds of homemade soup (pumpkin, lentil, and black bean) so I'm set for the week, food-wise. Also Gabe and Leah brought homemade blueberry cranberry pie which was delicious and we ate it with ice cream. I have leftovers, and I'm not sharing. Kerry brought bubbles to blow at the cats, and the big furry wimps were scared of them, go figure. Not surprisingly, we managed to kill 4 bottles of wine between the 7 of us. Anyway, more updates as interesting things happen in my life.
