After spending about a year, maybe more, growing my hair out, and then cutting it to chin length, and then hating it for several months, I finally had it cut short again. The problem is, my poor stylist, Tammie, had to go on my vague descriptions of how my hair used to look, and I'm not completely satisfied with the results. Next time I plan to go armed with pictures, but first I need to decide what I want, exactly.

In order to do that, I need your help. I have set up a haircut poll and I would really appreciate it if you took at look and told me which haircut you like best. If you're having trouble picturing these haircuts on me (or you've never seen me!) take a look at my photos. I probably won't be getting my hair cut for a week or two, so take your time.

Thanks for all your help!

This Thanksgiving, Erica and I didn't have anything special to do, so we decided to cook together. She ended up adopting some "orphans" from work, her coworkers Gabe and Leah, and as a bonus, we got Leah's boyfriend Alec. Gabe volunteered to do the turkey using a family recipe where the turkey is steamed over the course of three days. I had some issues with relinquishing control of the turkey cooking, but got more bummed out when I realized this cooking method didn't involve crispy skin. To add to my holiday woes, I was going to have to (oh god no!) meet new people. After Erica reassured me that everything would be fine, and I bonded with Leah through email and Erica about the "crispy skin issue", I felt better about the whole thing.

The weird part is that I actually knew Leah. She was another isca-ite and both Erica and I had met her before through our friend Manda. Even though Erica and Leah had been working together, they never realized that they'd met. Leah recognized me, though, so there goes the problem of dealing with a roomful of complete strangers.

It turns out it's a good thing that I wasn't cooking the turkey, since I got a migraine and Erica got stuck cooking all the side dishes without me. At least I'd bought all the ingredients, and had made a pumpkin cheesecake the day before, so I didn't feel like I'd done nothing to help. My migraine subsided right after everyone else had finished eating the main course, so I headed over there. (The turkey ended up being really yummy, despite the lack of skin, and had a tasty lemon butter sauce, too!)

So, I pigged out, everyone drank lots. I stuck with beer, though some folks were coerced into drinking shots (sorry Leah!) and also four bottles of wine were consumed over the evening, at least three of which were before I arrived. We played a game called Zobmondo! where one person has to ask a question like "Would you rather eat a tube of toothpaste or two tubes of lip balm?" and guess what the other players *as a consensus* are going to choose. We got kind of stuck on "Would you rather have a constellation named after you, or a classic work of art?" For some reason, we kept boiling the questions down to how they affect your chances of getting laid, so the constellation question kept trying to turn into "Would you rather fuck an artist or an astronomer?" Uh. Okay. Anyway, Erica had to call her sister's roomate to break the tie. The first person to get into the "winning" square has to make up a question, and everyone votes separately on ballots. My question was "Would you rather kill someone you know and hate, or a complete stranger?" and that was the end of that.

A Thanksgiving to be thankful for. Heh.
