A Friend of Ethan's

He's a close, personal friend of Ethan's. Ethan's phone number is in his book. But he never has to look it up. He has Ethan's number memorized. He's not like those other people who just say they're friends with Ethan, he really is a friend of Ethan's. Ethan doesn't waste his time with just anyone. Ethan wastes his time with him. (Just because Ethan does doesn't mean I have to.) Ethan sets him up on dates with otherwise unattainable women. But because he's a friend of Ethan's, women want him. (Other women want him.) Ethan asks him for advice and invites him to parties and lets him casually drop his name in conversations with strangers who might be impressed that he actually knows--no, has hung out with--no, is actually friends--with Ethan. Ethan has a lot of close, personal friends and I think I've met all of them. And I wonder, if I'm meeting all of Ethan's friends, is Ethan meeting all of mine? Ethan should know that someday he is going to run into a friend of Anita's. And he should be scared.
