Today is Jackie's birthday. Everyone write her and wish her a happy birthday - she's having a pretty crappy day. Open your e-mail client and go ahead. I'll wait.

Done? OK. Now for other news... Two jobs contacted me and said there would be further delays before I started. Verizon, formerly Bell Atlantic, is in the midst of strike negotiations and won't be testing me until that's settled. No date was given. Wizards of the Coast has pushed back their tentative September 7th opening of their Walt Whitman Mall opening due to construction and permit issues. Guess what? No date given there, either. So, in short, I'll get to sit unemployed until something happens...

Wow, it's been forever since the last time I changed anything on this page. This is a far cry from the semi-weekly updates to this page that I intended to do...

Over the course of the year, things have changed. I'll sum it up for you...

May 2000: I parted company with NHR. The reason: It's hard to be in a position where you're not taken seriously by management, yet they want you to do the job of three different people. If you want to spam someone, I'll give you an e-mail address: Terry.Stead@nhr.com, or Terry.Stead@nhrinc.com. The operative phrase: "You reap what you sow." Feel free to use as many expletives as you wish... Later that month, I spent a week in the hospital. You can thank Mr. Stead for the stress associated with putting me there, too.

June 2000: The search for a new job's been kind-of exhausting, so to break the monotony, I took up jogging. Soon, I'll be at the point where I can run the 5K in less than 6 days, 18 hours and change.

July 2000: So... While waiting for Bell Atlantic to write me to say "Work for us," I applied for a (ugh!) retail position at the Walt Whitman Mall location of the Wizards of the Coast store. I've been hired, but I'll have to wait until the store in Walt Whitman actually opens before I start to work... On another note, two of my friends got employment at NHR since I left - one took my old position, and another works in development. The new development guy wants me to apply for a development position, but I informed him that it's an awkward position I'd be in; I'd have to face all the people who know I didn't part company with NHR on the greatest of terms.

I've decided to add a news page to give you an idea of what has been going on with me. Hopefully it'll give you an idea what I do with my life -- and hopefully you'll see another side of me that the rest of the pages haven't let you in on.

For starters: I started my new job at National Healthcare Resources today. I, not unlike Dilbert, have a cubicle. It's strategically located near the exit. Here, I have a PII-350 and 64 MB of RAM and someone else's programs. I met a few of the people, fixed an HP printer, poked my finger somethin' awful, and had a damn good chicken breast sandwich.

Tentatively, my hours will be Monday through Friday, 8 to 5, so I can go to school at night.
