I met Greg Proops at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colorado in February, 1996. We were put together on the same bill as part of the "Alternative Theater Performers" section of the festival. When I first laid eyes on Greg, he was in the middle of teching his show. He was onstage with a mike in his hand and when I walked into the theater, he began to mock my show (which I knew he had never seen) in such a way that could have shaken a less secure performer, but which I found hilarious. And when I saw Greg perform his show that night, I don't think that I had laughed so hard up to that point in my life. Perhaps it was the fact that he was the funniest person I'd ever met or perhaps it was the fact that I hadn't yet acclimated to Aspen's high altitude. Whatever the reason, we became friends.
