There are three things I found to be universal truths: 1. Any bike can be hacked; nearly every make, model, and style has been hacked; some bikes handle a hack better than others. 2. You MUST get some outside training/instruction on hack operation; operating a bike with a hack is VERY different from 2-wheel operation; DO NOT try to learn on the road/by your self. 3. Call Lowell Neff. Lowell is one of the most knowledgeable and able hacksters in the business. He makes sub frames, leading link suspensions, and most of the other "stuff" you need to attach a hack safely and properly. And if he doesn't have it, he'll make it or find it for you. Specifically, my good friend Milo W. (he who throws down his new, less-than-600-miles R11RS) has been in touch with Lowell about hacking it. Lowell has a subframe for the R11RS, and allows as how it should be a great hacked bike. My other (I only have two) good friend Art M.(he who goes through bikes like most folks go through underwear) has just finished a R100RS with a Velorex rig. Sub frame and major attaching hardware compliments of Lowell Neff. I am just completing my '66 R50/2 with a 1955 Bender chair, attaching hardware from Lowell. In each and every case, we have been consistently pleased with the quality and fit of everything that has come from Lowell. Art, at one point, thought that a part may have been mis-manufactured. We called Lowell who said he would make any necessary changes to fit the exact rig that Art has. Upon a limited discussion, we found that we were not following the instructions included with the part from Lowell (we don neeeed no estinking destructions), and the part was, in fact, proper. Lowell did a fine job of Q & A before making and sending the parts to assure a proper fit and application. Good luck on your project. If you get to Lowell before Milo, you may be able to buy the subframe for the R11RS first ( I'll bet Lowell has more than one, but don't tell Milo that just yet:-)) Chuck Lanczkowski St. Louis, MO MOA, Gateway Riders (See you at Falling Leaf!)
