Kay" Dave, Hi, just had a BMW/Ungo Alarm system installed on my bike. The only = complaint is that BMW does not recommend that you install the ignition = kill switch. So if the bike is being taken for an unauthorized ride, it = will beep and honk while its being driven away. Other than that I am = satisfied. It comes with a remote and it also passively arms the bike = when I switch it off and it has a motion sensor. I also just installed Kriss industry's headlight modulator or Starburst = and the Hot Shot brake light system. The headlight modulator or = Starburst wig-wags the high and low beams, when I keep the light on high = beam, 219 times a minute, it also has a infra- red sensor which shuts = down the wig-wag when it gets dark. Finally when I hit the horn, the = headlight modulates at a different speed for an added effect. The Hot = Shot makes the turn signals blink quickly and then go solid whenever the = brake is hit. =20 I'm very satisfied with the Kriss stuff, just today I had three people = in cages slow down and complain about the headlight, and numerous shouts = of, "your signal lights are messed up!" Visibility is just what I = wanted and I think I got it. =20 My next projects are strobes for the front and rear lights and an = after-market stereo system (I refuse to plunk down an extra grand for a = piece of crap radio and speakers). =20 As for interesting trips, I'm going to Americade and the rally in = Tannerville, PA. Hope things are going good with your new bike, any intersting trips on it yet? I remebered that you asked the list about alarm systems. I am thinking about putting one on my RT. Did you find out any good info or did you just go with BMW system. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, David A. I realize that an alarm system > is I've got a Scorpio on my R11GS. It has tilt, proximity, siren, pager, and ignition kill with remote activation. It installed very easily under the seat (about 2 hours including beer time), and my only complaint is that occasionally a passing heavy truck triggers the alarm (I unplug the tilt sensor now when I park in NYC). I've also found that the pager doesn't reach me when I'm in my office three blocks away, presumably because of the buildings in between. I haven't experimented yet with shifting the pager aerial, although I found that shifting the main unit's aerial greatly extended the remote's range. Most useful feature: proximity warning. It starts beeping slowly if you get up beside the bike, increases in frequency the longer you hang around and then goes off. Goes off right away if you sit on the bike or grab it. People have stopped "trying it out", which had been pissing me off. Have surfed around and narrowing down the field. Scorpio system is looking good and has perimeter guard to keep the Rug Rats off(would use baseball bat but mothers tend to get PO'ed). Next in line is Avital system, lots of bells and whistles(I think the keychain remote will also control my tv, cd player, receiver, garage door and R2D2) but local authorized dealer doesn't stock the bike alarm and steered me towards UNGO System. Found UNGO Web page and found great list of prices of stuff but absolutely nothing about the alarm itself. Have I been living in a cave not to know about UNGO?? Since subscribing to the Digest, I have seen a lot of msg.s go thru with UNGO mentioned. I take it that it is the choice of dealers to install on new bikes?? Any others that I should be looking at? Comes with 2 remotes, and can be programmed (i.e., customized) in several different ways. Cost is about $200 and can be installed easily. I like mine a lot. +----------------------------------------------+ | jfbrownNoSpam@NoSpampower.net (J.F. If you do it yourself, let me know and I'll try to remember where the wire is you need to tap for the "kill" part of the alarm. Avital has a web site: http://www.avital.com I like the unit very well...programmable for several item, sensitivity, self or manual arming, etc. It doesn't seem to ruin the battery by being left in the armed state for 2 days at a time...that is the longest I have left it parked while on a trip.
